2. SURFACE PREPARATION
-
All steel surfaces should be cleaned of oils and greases using an appropriate solvent
-
Where possible steel surfaces should be prepare
by shot/sand blasting. If this is not possible all rust or loose contaminants must be removed using a wire brush.
3. MIXING THE COMPOUND
- Mixing of the compound should be done on a clean steel or wooden surface or board.
- Empty the contents of the plastic bucket (Part A) onto the mixing surface and mold the product into a circular dam shape.
- Shake the Hardener (Part B) well before mixing. The hardener should have a white color after it has been shaken.
- Pour the hardener into the center of the dammed Part A and mix the two parts thoroughly together. The hardener has a white dye which will help you know when the mixture is thoroughly mixed as it will have a constant color and consistency.
- If less than the full amount of part A is to be used, then only use the equivalent portion of part B. for example if only half of Part A (3.5 kg) is used than only use half of part B (100 ml). The 2 kg kit and its 50 ml hardener should be used in their entirety.
4. APPLYING THE COMPOUND
The mixed compound can be applied by hand or by using a tool like a spatula or a trowel.
Use a pushing or squeezing action to apply the compound to the surface to be protected. Make sure there are no trapped air pockets in the applied compound.
To obtain a smooth finish to the compound apply a small amount of water to the surface of the applied compound and smooth it off by hand.
